UVA UVAM VIDENDO VAIA FIT.
Just set the damn thing on fire.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to understanding with the passing
whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile,
leave footprints on our hearts,
and we are never, ever the same.
A Poem by Maya Angelou
We,
unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.
Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.
We are
weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.
Happiness
isn’t something you earn,
Or deserve by being a good person.
It’s not bestowed on you as a reward.
You
make your own happiness
By taking control of your life,
By growing,
By reaching out and making friends,
By engaging in activities
that bring you joy and satisfaction,
By giving.
Happiness
is a result of taking care of your needs,
And letting those you love care for you.
Perhaps they
are not stars
But rather openings in heaven
Where the love of lost ones
Pours through and shines down upon us
To let us know they are happy.
